A very warm welcome to Waikōwhai Primary School

At Waikōwhai Primary we constantly strive to live by our vision statement:

'Students will be equipped with a foundation of knowledge and skills to prepare them for adaptation and change in an interconnected and global society'

Our learning programme is structured to be a window of opportunity for fantastic learning experiences and catering for all intelligence traits and all learning styles. Academic standards are high, and expectations of the students are both demanding and fully supported. The priority of our dedicated staff is to simply teach to the very best of their ability.

Our school has a reputation within our community for working hard to create an inclusive environment that values the diversity of our children and their families.

Below are a couple of findings from our recent review by the Education Review Office (February 2020).

‘Students engage actively and enthusiastically in their learning. Well-integrated digital technologies enable students to collaborate and learn alongside their peers. Students participate confidently in sports and arts experiences. They learn about and celebrate cultural events and practices. Students have good opportunities to undertake leadership roles within the school.’

‘Very effective learning-focused partnerships are a feature of the school. Deliberate steps are taken to actively involve parents in their children’s learning, in meaningful ways. Students with additional needs and their families are very well supported. Effective communication strategies contribute to the school’s sustained close connections with the local community.’
